No goals, no dateline, no directions, no achievement

Going through each day of routine tasks, setting daily goals and achieving them is important, as least make work not so boring. I dun have to care much, just trying to achieve each goals when i log in to work each day.

I think datelines is important too, although nobody is pushing me for anything at the moment. Cos no dateline, everything is just hanging in the air, doesn't matter whether do or not.

With goals and datelines, it gives directions. I think i am just short temper and impatient, cannot stand ppl without proper goals and directions, everyday circling the same tasks until really no time then rush...

A real life experience shared by rev. chuan ren

He was on a rain retreat with fellow dharma fellows from over the world. They are in the forest area of myanmar. Usual tropical rain forests are infested with lots of mosquitoes, especially during the rainy season.

Meditators will have to drop mosquitoes net over themselves during meditating to prevent the mosquitoes from attacking them. Even when they sleep. They have to make sure that the nets are properly tucked into the beds.

However there is this meditator in his 60s from australia. Not only does he not use the net during meditation. He also sleeps in the corridor without using any net. And he does not get any single bites from the mosquitoes.

Many others were puzzled and hence he shared his 'secret'.

That is to meditate and raditate loving kindness to the mosquitoes around him. He told fellow dharma fellows that he has been meditating for 12 years and the reason why others are disturbed by the mosquitoes is because they are raditating anger to the mosquitoes and hence making them irritated and wanted to attack the human beings!

His story aspire me to do the same too!

There are so many cockroaches these days!

Last lesson on meditation by loving kindness

Today is the last lesson on meditation by loving kindness.

After relaxing and positioning ourselves,

we start off with radiating loving kindness to the 10 directions in the following sequence

All beings in the

1.Eastern direction
2.South East direction
3.Southern direction
4.South West direction
5.Western direction
6.North West Direction
7.Northern Direction
8.North East Direction
9. In the direction above
10. In the direction below
11. In all directions.

Rev. Chuan Ren shared a few interesting real life benefits of practicing loving kindness meditation.

I find the sessions helpful and indeed is a good start to my meditation journey.

He shared an important point for this method of meditation. That is, we must learn to radiate the feelings of uncompassionate love and happiness to all the beings, not only human beings, it is the feeling of true happiness without any mental and physical suffering. We should not only focus on the words that we keep repeating for it will only create attachment rather then detachment.

When do you know that you are practicing the meditation right?
The answers will be reflected in your life as you find yourself living with less stress each day and happier without suffering each day.

What's wrong?

Maybe i need a break? But i am just back from holidays 2 months ago? Gosh! so fast 2 months are over!

Overwhelmed with lots of P.T. and work. Nothing to look forward to at the moment.

Recently boss spent one hour beating round the bush to tell us that our bonus will be cut.
Super sianz. If they cut mine, it is super unfair for the amount of income i am bringing to the company compared to others in my department.

Too many voices around me are asking me to set out on my own, although i am only late 20s, i am tired of setting up my own business, so many things to take care off. So i rather persevere my current position.

Dunno why i am like so hard for money, can't seemed to reject ppl asking me for P.T. And my schedule will be damned full. I thought my teacher could be back to help me, to my horror, i am only teaching 2 of her ex-students. The rest of the students are mine and now i can't seemed to sacrifice any one of them.

I am having mood swings i guess. Tired at the moment of always making decisions. White hairs are appearing again... signs of stress... the last time i had white hair was at o-levels. I did not have any during a-levels.

Being a slave to money, nothing seems better then collecting cash.

Reason for all the moodiness: i have found it! There is no public holidays this month!!!!!

1st Lesson on Metta Meditation

Metta Meditation is meditating on loving kindness.

The first lesson, we got a simple introduction to the various kind of meditation by venerable chuan ren.

He shared with us the postures for meditation. We have to be comfortable with our posture when we are meditating. We have to relax all parts of our bodies before focusing on the main thought of loving kindness.

May I be well, peaceful and happy.

May I be free from physical suffering.

May I be free from mental suffering.

Only when we are being peaceful and happy with ourselves, can we start to wish all other beings to be peaceful and happy.

It is indeed a simple way to start off with.

When our legs are numb, he asks us to shift our self gently and slowly, to ease the pain while still focusing on the simple thought.

Nice smell!

Was feeling a bit overwhelming with life recently, haha. Too many things to be done, even on my off days. It may be school holidays but it is also the start of tuition for a few new kids.

I just want to earn as much as i could now, hehe. Money comes in handy when you need them especially when purchasing house, going for long holidays without worrying...or even if you want to fire your boss. LOL

I am more of workoholic, so except for feeling tired, i did not really complain much. Now i can sleep so easily.

Living life to the fullest as much as i can. Cousin ask me,'how old do you think you are?'

Answer,'I am still 18!!' ~ LOL

I am in love with my new room spray! Crabtree and Evelyn Rosewater Room Spray. After tidying my room, on the air con, play some relaxing music PLUS a nice rose smell, lie on the bed, read a book.

Culture

On my way home, as we were at the void deck, we hear traditional malay instrument music. Those metal drums which we use to hear them during wayang.

I thought it was some malay wedding. But saw many people crowded below at the empty space near the next block. And from far i saw people dancing... i thought it was some musical performance that has come to the HDB, as they often have block party at the void deck.

We walked near and saw some malay men, women and children dressed in blacked and carrying cardboards/ leather made board that were in shapes of horses. And they were dancing around like horses. At random intervals, they would be whipped hard on the back by a person holding the whip.

The people who are dancing and acting like the horses are in trance, similar to our chinese taoism mediums. And some times they may dance out of control as they may suddenly ran towards a certain direction and had to be guided back by the people besides.

From my mum's account, they have been dancing since noon! and they eat glass bottles and tear coconuts with their bare teeth... woh...

The last night of the cruise was spent going to casinos and lounges after dinner. We thank our waiters and room attendants for their services for the past 7 days and took pictures with them.

Vitorino made a towel bat and hung it in our room, this was one of the piece i like it very much.

My mum commented that the alaskan ling cod served on the wooden board was very nice.

Day 6 Rhapsody of the seas - Prince Rubert B.C.

After Tracy Arm Fjord, the cruise make its way out of alaska and it was indeed an exciting day for us, for we spotted whales and dolphins on the move in the seas. Everything happen too fast for me to take any pictures.

We crusie for a day before reaching Prince Rubert B.C. which is a state of Canada.

There is a very interesting town called cow bay. We spent about a few hours walking in the town before going back on the ship for a good afternoon jog, gym, board activites, jacuzzi...

We also managed to enjoy a good sunset view after so many misty days in the cold islands of alaska.

Today's desset was my favourite. something chocolate and cheesy... haha...

Day 5 Rhapsody of the seas - Tracy Arm Fjord

I thought everything was the best at Frasers B.C. and the cruise would be making its way out of alaska to canada after skagway. The air was cold and we were cruising at a very slow speed along the fjord... seeing lots of mountains close along side the ship with waterfalls from glaciers...

I saw lots of ice, big and blue floating along the ship...

Then as we were eating breakfast, the glacier slowly appear in front of us, i stop eating my breakfast and went out to take pictures... In front was the beautiful Sawyer Glacier...

It was an exciting day after seeing the glacier... and at night, i was thrilled to see a companion for my tortoise, Toto.

Day 4 on board Rhapsody of the seas - Skagway

We arrive at skagway the next day and went down town to shop for a short tour that took us across the alaskan boarders to canada region Frasers B.C.

I love this tour the most, we participate in this 3 hour tour with 5 other mexicans. We get to stop over at waterfalls and touch the freezing water that melted from the glacier on top. Got a taste of it, brain freeze, it was just damn cold.

The mini bus drove pass the customs to Frasers B.C. We got to see more beautiful lakes and mountains. Fortunately i bought my binoculars along and we have fun trying to spot the mountain goats high up there.... Wonder how many can see the blue glacier i was trying to take high up in the mountains...

Our ships just look so small on top of a view point. A dog that looks like a rabbit? was on my bed today. Haha...

Day 3 on board Rhapsody of the seas - Juneau

We arrive at Juneau, Alaska on day 3, got off the ship to take our pre book tour around Juneau. Mainly to the Mendenhall Glacier and natural wild salmon farm.

It was my first time seeing a glacier, having no idea what it is. It is really cold and blue. Glaciers are blue because they are formed under great pressure and all colours are absorbed except blue which was reflected to our eyes.

Surprise from vitorino was an elephant.

Day 2 on board Rhapsody of the seas

While the ship is in the alaskan seas, we occupied ourselves with activities on the ship, participating in most of the on board games and movies.

In the mist, we see the snow capped mountains along the Alaskan passage way. This night was a formal night as everyone dressed formally and took pictures for their dinners.

Food was good, especially for those who took the fresh alaskan catch of the day. My favourite was still the dessert.

Our night ended with a surprise from Vitorino who folded a stingray with towels  and left it on our bed.

Day 1 on board Rhapsody of the seas

The ship i was on board, Rhapsody of the seas belongs to Royal Caribbean. The first person who greeted us at our room was our room attendent, Vitorino Fernandes. He made a clear introduction of himself and his services. There was a serious emergency drill which everyone has to participate, wearing our life jackets before the departure.

I took a picture of Seattle as the cruise started its journey.

We had our first dinner at the main dining hall where our waiter and assistant waiter was assigned to us. Before we left, our waiter inform us of the activities next day and attire for dinner. It was just like a butler... haha... The food was nice and i was surprise that i could get something vegetarian...

Seattle

A place full of cafes, coffee!!! Nice clean city, with lots of seagulls. The Needle is one of their landmark. Near it is also an international fountain, which is so interesting and much better then the one in the old sentosa...

The weather is cool and glad that we spent a day in the city, at least get to walk around and explore before we board the cruise the next day.
